See how Walker & DiDi Noble make space for their growing family

Ahead of their daughter’s arrival, the couple designed a home that reflects their heritage and love of travel.

At home, as abroad

The couple’s distinct backgrounds and shared travels—he’s American by African descent and she was born in Northern Brazil—inform their distinct design style, where patterns and colors sweep across spaces filled with light and plants. Walker tapped into the same inspiration for his exclusive collaboration with West Elm, pieces that now feature prominently in his own home (spy the art and pillow in the nursery).

Through his collection for us, Walker hopes his daughter will understand where she came from. “This is some of her history,” he says.

When Walker and DiDi found the home, it was a mishmash of mid-century and Spanish Revival influences. The couple pared everything back with crisp white walls and a few select furnishings to lend a calm warmth, and held on to the Saltillo tile in the foyer for texture.

“Monet said it best: ‘The richness I achieve comes from nature, the source of my inspiration.’”

“We love the various green hues in the lush redwood forest and tall saguaros of the Arizona desert,” says Walker. “The peacefulness of Tuolumne Meadows. The white sand on the beaches of Mauritius and Seychelles. The deep blues of the ocean off the coast of Brazil. I’m always looking to recreate these feelings of warmth and serenity in our home.”
