THE CHALLENGE

Co-founders of online magazine Sight Unseen, Monica Khemsurov and Jill Singer understand how to put a unique stamp on a space. The design experts recently published How to Live with Objects, a book about creating a more meaningful home by collecting objects you love—so we figured they’d be up to the task of transforming our studio into a next-level living room.

“Putting objects you love into a space can really add dimension and personality—and make you happy. The best part is that anyone can do it.”

THE TAKEAWAY

Here, Monica and Jill designed a backdrop of neutral furniture with shades of green to bring their vision to life, but they really stress that there’s no one way to do it. “You need to create a nice visual balance of objects in your space and be discerning about the pieces you collect, so you can spotlight possessions you truly love and give them a chance to shine,” Monica says.
