Tour a sunny Brooklyn townhouse where family artwork lives beyond the refrigerator

See how parents Rajni Jacques and David Dowd encourage their kids to get creative at home.

Whenever Rajni Jacques and David Dowd come across a piece of cardboard, they pass it along to their kids, Diego (5) and Lucienne (3). Any scrap has the potential to become something beautiful with the help of paint or markers. Rajni’s own paintings fill their walls, in addition to pieces by emerging artists and her kids. “I want my children to be creative, whatever field they end up choosing,” says Rajni, who is a fashion director.

“This home gives us space to breathe,” Rajni says. “It gives us the space to do what we want to do, while still remaining very close-knit.”
