Our Design Crew took actress Michaela Jaé’s new home from empty to amazing in just three days

And—welcome to California!—the chic, comfortable style happens inside and out.

Michaela Jaé’s new East Los Angeles house has an open-concept living space that leads right out to a sunny terrace. Back in our Brooklyn headquarters, our Design Crew mocked up the floor plan, then figured out how to make the large, rectangular room work best for Michaela Jaé’s needs: She wanted a style that was comfortable for hanging out and playing video games—but also polished enough for entertaining.

The living room gets tons of natural light, so the Design Crew chose an airy and earthy palette.

The Addie Swivel Chair easily turns to face the TV for gaming or watching a movie. A Hargrove Media Console offers tons of hidden storage.

A sectional with a view

“It was so important to have a sectional because I love to have family and friends over,” Michaela Jaé says. And the Melbourne 3-piece L-Shaped Sectional has space for everyone. Since she’s such a big gamer, the Design Crew left a pathway behind the sofa, so people can get to the patio without blocking the screen.

“The Design Crew had a true vision, while also taking into account what I love to see. They were very receptive, and just really on point!”

Blend inside and outside

The glass doors fold all the way open, and the same palette of earthy neutrals connect the indoor and outdoor spaces. To further link the look, the Design Crew put similar throw pillows out on the terrace, and brought a large potted plant inside.
