Fashion designer Mara Hoffman’s new home collection is all about beauty and calm, inspired by her peaceful, nature-filled life in upstate New York

Intentionality
of design

As brands committed to sustainable materials and responsible production processes, a partnership between West Elm and Mara Hoffman was a natural fit for the clothing designer’s expansion into home goods. “We share the same ethos around care, focusing on the planetary and human-centric side of the work,” she says.

“Particularly now, the role of designers and artists is essential—we can bring people into a place of greater ease and peace, rather than create more instability and waste,” she says. “We have this important job to be deeply intentional with what we create in order to help people feel better.” With that goal in mind, she designed every piece in this earthy, laid-back collection to be a little “up-leveling of beauty” that integrates seamlessly into any home.

“How you feel translates into the experience of an object. When you wake up and connect to something that makes you feel a higher frequency of beauty and love, you tend to see that in other people.”
